Erie County is home to the county seat
Buffalo, the second largest city in New York
State. It's located on the eastern shores of Lake Erie and the head of the
Niagara River. The name is believed to have come from the French "beau
fleuve" which means "beautiful river". . Buffalo has the sunniest and driest summers in the
northeast.
